I originally made this mobile about 10 years ago, and at the time, it was painted a uniform shade of bright red. A few years back it was accidentally smashed to bits, so I decided to rebuild it by gluing some parts back together, recreating some pieces, and repainting the whole thing. I decided that the plain red paint was boring, so I blended different hues together to give it a flame-like appearance. "Phoenix" was the obvious choice for a title, since the mobile was reborn from the ruined remains of its older self.
