Many years back I had an idea for a sort of "vertical mobile": a mobile that you could mount on a wall rather than hang from the ceiling. During college I tried to make one, but I couldn't get it to balance it properly, so that attempt was a bust. A few years later I tried again, and the result is what you see here. Unfortunately, after struggling like mad to balance the plates properly, I finally realized that it's simply not possible--at least, not by hand. In the end, I fixed all but one of the plates in place, and the end result is, honestly, pretty blah. It would have been neat as a kinetic sculpture, but as a static piece, it's nothing to write home about.
