ugly floral upholstery fabric

Sometimes I feel like I'm on a mission to prove my complete and utter lack of masculinity to the world at large. Case in point: not only have I recently acquired a sewing machine, but I've started to make floral print dust covers for stuff in my apartment. Oh well, I've never liked stereotypical gender roles anyway.
A few months back, my somewhat beloved, 16-year-old Yamaha SY22 synthesizer keyboard finally bit the dust, and in early November, I bought a cheap replacement (a Yamaha DGX-220) to get me through grad school until I can afford something better. Though I doubt that it lead to its demise, it always kind of bugged me that I let my old keyboard get gunked up with dust, so with my new one I decided to do something about it from the beginning. Rather than trying (and failing) to make the dust cover a thing of beauty, I opted for "extravagantly ugly" instead, hence my choice of fabric.
By the way, the DGX-220 is a damn good keyboard considering that it only costs about $300. I miss the after-touch sensitivity, variable modulation, and custom voice synthesis of the SY22, but on the other hand, the DGX-220 has 76 keys, 32-voice polyphony, and one of the better piano sounds I've heard on any synthesizer, so overall I can't complain. |
